Why SEO and Linkbuilding still matter

As many of you have heard my lecture (um, talk) about the importance of building relevant links to your sites, I thought you'd find this article at ClickZ interesting.

Recent research done to identify how search engines determine Web page ranking shows that the quality of inbound links is the most important factor in rank at all three major Search Engines. That's quality, not quantity.

Next in importance are your on site factors; title keywords, body keywords and content relevance. At this point, link-building is a basic building block for your SEO work and is ignored at the peril of your search engine rank.
