Site Submit/Trusted Feed
What it is
Site Submit/Trusted Feed is a paid inclusion program offered by some Search Engines. Although it works for most sites, it is especially useful for Web sites with a large number of product pages or content pages that are difficult for the Search Engines to find or index for technical reasons. Examples include sites containing "deep" content, Macromedia Flash-based pages and dynamically-generated pages. Site Submit/Trusted Feed gets around these issues by allowing site page descriptors to be sent directly to the Search Engines. W3PR is expert at creating the necessary page descriptors as well as ensuring the pages conform to all the rules and listing requirements to rank well.
The Trusted Feed listings appear in the natural search results in the search engines and are subject to the listing algorithms, therefore it is important that Search Engine Optimization take place in conjunction with the Site Submit process.
In ordinary SEO, once the request has been made to the Search Engine to include a Web site, the Search Engine sends a "spider" (automated software) to collect information about the Web site. The Search Engine then uses this information to create various summaries including titles and descriptions for the listings to be included in the Search Engine. Large, complex sites and dynamically-generated sites often pose problems to the Search Engine spiders and result in incomplete listings or, in some cases, no listings at all for the requesting site.
Site Submit is a program developed by the Search Engines to solve these problems. Site Submit allows a site owner to submit, via an XML feed, descriptive "summaries" of the Web site's pages directly to the Search Engine, eliminating the need for the spiders to visit the site.
Site Submit comes in two sizes: one version for small sites (less than 500 pages) and a second version for large sites (500 pages or more). The program charges a nominal per-click charge based on the category of the Web site, such as "home & garden" or "health & beauty". Usually the per-click charges are much less than would be charged in a standard Pay-Per-Click campaign. Site Submit is a very cost effective way of ensuring your site is listed well.
Why it's important to you
Site Submit works well for any site, but for some sites it may be nearly the only truly effective way to get the site listed in the Search Engines. Any circumstance which prevents site pages from being modified to include W3PR's Search Engine Optimization recommendations makes that site a prime candidate for Site Submit.
This would include any sites that cannot be changed due to technical, organizational or timing reasons. (An example of an organizational reason that a site could not have SEO enhancements included would be a site containing may products that is controlled at Corporate level, but for which the marketing responsibility falls to product managers out in the field. The product manager may have little or no ability to change the product portion for the site for which he is responsible, yet will be responsible for the online marketing performance of that site. This is a perfect candidate for Site Submit.)
There are a variety of circumstances that may make traditional Search Engine Optimization less effective for your site than it might otherwise be. However, any site can benefit from using Site Submit in addition to regular SEO techniques.
What W3PR does about it
We are particularly proud that our good reputation in the industry and the relationships we've built over the years allow us to perform large-site Site Submit. W3PR is one of the very few Search Engine Marketing companies that has this capability. The reason that we do is that we have built our reputation on honesty and integrity, and built trust, not only with our clients, but also with our peers and industry colleagues. As such, we have established the relationship necessary to be one of the very few companies who have built the trust necessary to participate in a Trusted Feed program.
Site Submit comes in two sizes, for Small and Large sites.
-
Small Site Submit is for sites containing less than 500 pages. It can also be used for sites that wish to submit fewer than 500 pages of a larger site. There is a one time per-page fee charged by the search engines for Small Site Submit. Once the Trusted Feed is created, typically your site's listings will begin appearing in the Search Engines within 48 hours. Importantly, every page submitted via the Trusted Feed will appear in the Search Engines. Small Site Submit includes click-thru reporting.
-
Large Site Submit is available only to Web sites containing 500 or more pages. As with Small Site Submit, once the Trusted Feed is created, site pages will begin appearing in the Search Engine within 48 hours, and every page submitted, including pages deep within the site or dynamically generated pages, will appear.
One of the primary benefits of Site Submit is that pages are refreshed every 48 hours, ensuring that updated content on your site is reflected almost immediately in the corresponding Search Engine listings. This includes information like pricing updates and page title changes.
